At Spring we always push the boundaries of what is possible in order to bring our customers the most innovative yet safe and user-friendly insulin delivery solutions. Numerous patent applications and patent approvals worldwide demonstrate our commitment to releasing products that make a difference and provide access to next generation technologies. One such product is our new insulin pump scheduled to be released this year.
The Spring Hybrid Pump Solution
The innovative Intellispring™ technology that has been implemented in the traditional ADI CSII system is currently being transformed into the first ever “hybrid” continuous delivery system. It is hybrid because it can be worn either as a patch pump or a traditional pump.
The unique mechanical spring-based - Intellispring technology alongside with the one- of- a- kind Total Line Control (TLC™) innovation, represents a new dimension in reliable continuous insulin delivery control and monitoring.
Intellispring utilizes the mechanical spring energy, triggered by the actual loading of insulin, as the driving force behind insulin delivery.
Differential pressure between the drug-reservoir and the user-line, taking in account pressure differences caused by temperature fluctuations, determines the precise dose allowed to pass through, irrespective of any other environmental conditions.
Its proprietary sophisticated pressure sensing and valve assembly enables a most reliable drug delivery. Rather than calculating the motor operation required for delivery, this pump uniquely controls actual insulin output and hence offers ultimate safety in insulin pump therapy.
Eliminating a motor and gear train results in more precise delivery of insulin, which is at the same time also energy saving and environmentally friendly.
Among the inherent technology features, are the smallest increments in insulin therapy, the immediate alert at any possible occlusion event and the unique air bubble detection system. Now the “Hybrid Patch System” allows the user greatest life-style flexibility by allowing an alternative between having tube-free insulin on a skin-patch, or using it as the smallest traditional “Insulin Pump.”
The flexibility of this IPX 8 water-tight device goes even further. Our pump can be used with or without a dedicated remote management tool. The remote unit also serves as a BG meter. Each user can easily choose between wearing the pump either on a skin-patch, or connected to an infusion set. The infusion set has a revolutionary automatic introducer, featuring painless insertion, a hidden, auto-retractable needle, an ultimate sharps-protector and the unique Detach Detect mechanism.
While featuring the highest level of safety and user friendliness, the Spring Patch system is economical and environment friendly. The device is comprised of a multiple use, long-lasting control element that is combined with a single-use drug reservoir. No electronic elements, soldering materials or batteries are being disposed of every 2-3 days. The only waste consists of a tiny plastic cartridge. This energy-saving, motorless system runs for about thirty days on a standard AAA battery.
